Wasn't sure where to put this.
I don't shave often, sometimes during the summer to deal with the heat, using a borrowed electric trimmer.
I did buy a cartridge set years ago, mach something or another probably. It worked well enough. I found it worked better without shaving cream or lub. But I always shave after a shower. Seems these things matted down my hair, causing it to cling to my skin and work all the harder to remove it. Probably helped that they come with these strips built onto the heads that I think provide lub when wet.
But I am all out of that, my last razor head vanished when I was cleaning the bathroom some months back.
So I figured I would use a safety razor. Cheaper over time then cartridges, right? Speaking of, how does the life span of one of those fancy razor cartridges compare to a simple double edge safety blade?
Even though dry shaving after a shower works with the cartridge, a safety blade is different? Or are they equally recommended that you use lube with? Could I just use grape seed oil? Do I need some expensive cream, do I need a brush (and the brush does what exactly, cause the stuff to lather up?) Does lathering verses just spreading with a finger really make much of a difference? Do I need shaving soaps or something? And of course which safety razor to buy and other questions regarding the myriad of choices come up. I don't want to be spending a fortune for a trim, especially with ongoing costs.
Oh and I read someone use the abbreviation AOS on one of these forums, what is it short for?
