I noticed that barber shops where I live all have electric shave foam dispensers. So the last time I had a hair cut, I asked the barber why they don't use shaving brushes. He said it was illegal in California for a barber shop to use a shaving brush! He said it was unfortunate since the brush helps with exfoliation. [Is this last statement true for synthetic brushes? They seem too soft. Also, is it true if one lathers in a bowl and simply paints the lather on with the brush?]
How can one get a decent shave applying foam directly? The last time I had a shave at a (different) barber shop, they tore my face up with a single pass shave. I was bleeding all over. I have never attempted to get a shave a barber shop after that. I'm happy with my DFS and no blood at home. :)
