Day 1
Honestly, this is my first time shaving in years and am super excited how the first shave went. My set up is as follows:
Razor: RazoRock Mission DE Piece Safety Razor
Pre-Shave: Proraso Pre-Shave Cream
Soap: Proraso Shaving Cream (Refreshing and Toning; Green Tube)
Brush: Omega Shaving Brush Boar Bristle
Blade: Derby Extra
After Shave: T.N. Dickinson's Witch Hazel and Soap Commander Aftershave Balm with Menthol
To start off I left the brush in hot water while I was taking a hot shower. Once I was finished I put the Pre shave on and waited about 2-3 minutes and let it soak in.
I didn't expect the Pre Shave to spread like it did, now I know to use less of it because I was rubbing it in for about 2-3 minutes. Once 3 minutes passed I put a hot towel over my face and waited another 2 minutes.
Then I proceeded to lather the shaving cream in a bowl. The shaving cream was pretty easy to lather up, I read some people under Nick Shaves YouTube channel had trouble lathering up the Proraso Shaving cream.
I applied the shaving cream on my face and that process took about 2 minutes. I wanted to hit up every spot and apply it correctly.
So I started to shave and I did it slow and steady. My problem before years ago was that I went against the grain and applied a lot of pressure so following some advice I received from a few members on here I applied no pressure. I think it went great on account that my hair grows in various directions. I didn't cut myself at all which I am proud of because I thought for sure that was going to happen.
I only did with the grain and across the grain. I didn't want to push my luck with against the grain just yet. I won't lie there is a small spot on my cheek that has hair still and under my nose but since it was my first time I feel kinda good about it. No bleeding, nor do I feel any irritation what so ever.
That is a major plus because when I was in Basic training I had razor bumps all over my face and that deterred me from shaving.
All in all it was a great experience and I want to continue down this path and learn the technique more.
I want to thank everyone that gave me advice and recommended products to use.
I promise to not going into how I shave anymore just how the shave went. The only reason I posted the process I used was to let you guys know how I pre pared and to get feedback from the forum.
If you have any feedback negative or positive please let me know.
Thanks
Henz
