Even though I have been wet shaving for about 10 years, I have very little experience with brushes. My daily driver has been this brush which is very soft but has little backbone ( I think).

I just got the following brush which I believe is the same or very similar to the highly reviewed Muhle synthetics.

This brush clearly has a lot more backbone than what I'm used to. However, it seems springy to me and a little unnatural. When I push the brush down to get it to splay, it seems to lean to one side or the other and doesn't open symmetrically.
I don't gather that these brushes really "break in" at all, so I don't expect this to change much over time. Is this uneven splay, or leaning to the side, the way these brushes are supposed to work?
