I got my Maggard Slant a few weeks back. Finally got it out this morning!
This is my first slant razor so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. I tried to do all of my prep like I always do. Warm shower, pre-shave oil and then used my TOBS Sandlewood. I used a Gillette 7 O'Clock SS blade (I haven't used these too often, but they have done well when I have).
The first swipe down my cheek was so smooth and quiet, I wasn't sure I had actually gotten the blade to my face. Looking in the mirror, proved I had. Both cheeks went well. The chin was a bit rough and pulled a bit on the first pass. The jaw line and neck went pretty well for a first pass. Under my right nostril went fine. Under the left seemed difficult to get no matter what I tried(I did eventually get it).
The second pass was much better over my entire face. I decided to go for the third pass and really clean up. After the third pass, I still had a few rough patches on my neck but the rest of my face was as smooth as glass(I rarely get a shave this smooth). A quick last pass on those last couple of small patches took care of them.
It was a bit odd with the angle of the head overall, but that was obviously due to my first attempt with a slant. No weepers but I did nick the outer nostril flair on the left side while trying to get those pesky hairs near the nose. I also managed a small cut to the lower part of my neck near the center(not even sure how, I've never done that before). Overall a really good experience with this razor and blade combination. Will definitely be adding the Maggard Slant to my rotation!
