Proraso reminds me of that nursery rhyme where the little girl had a little curl, right in the middle of her forehead.
When it's good, it's very, very, good.
But when it's bad, it's horrid.
After about a year of trying, on and off, I'm finally giving up on the Proraso croaps. Try as I might, I just can't get them to deliver a good lather with slickness and cushion. Over the months, I've tried various lathering techniques, and various brushes, but all to the same effect. If the lather is rich, it's too drying and doesn't provide much slickness for the shave; and if I make it thinner, it still doesn't provide the slickness. I'm just going to admit defeat, recognise that the two of us don't get on, and put my tub of croap in the rubbish.
On the other hand....I have to say that Proraso Blu is the best overall shaving cream I've tried, bar none. It does everything that the croap doesn't: a nice rich cushion; slickness for the shave; and the post-shave feel is really supple and moisturised. Some other creams match its performance, but not its price, and for overall value for money I'd take a lot of convincing that there's a better cream out there.
So the croap goes in the bin, but six tubes of Blu have recently arrived from Italy, so I'll be happy for a while.
So a bit Dr Jeckyll and Mr Hyde for me - I'm just taken aback by how two products from the same stable can perform so differently.
Of course, this is all personal experience and YMMV, which is hunky-dory.
