I was sent a selection of samples with an order and tried these this week. The shaving gel is a gunk type product that squirts out of a tube in a very thin stream. As it's so expensive I have tried to use as little as possible.
After warming my face with a hot towel I rubbed the Aloe gel into my face, working it against the grain until my beard is covered. Then shave off. It's not thick and exciting like a classic shaving soap/cream, however, it's done a superb job of providing great glide and closeness, giving me the best results I've achieved yet.
The moisturising lotion comes in a tube and again it's easy to control how much is dispensed. A tiny nut is sufficient and goes on well giving that fantastic post-shave glow. I'd say it's a slightly thicker consistency than Nivea, which has been my regular benchmark post shave product.
As with any grooming products it's very difficult to attribute the causes of a great shave – was it yesterday's post shave or today's lather? In the case of the Clinique products, I don't think it matters too much because together I'm finding these two products an excellent combination. So much so that I don't feel the need to rotate in any of my other soaps and creams. If you can get yourself samples of these they are well worth trying.
