harmermania's Entry to the Hall of Fame

Hall of Fame Entry

What is your real name?

Steve

What are your nicknames/aliases?

harmermania

Where do you live?

Toronto

What is your age (or) generation?

45

What are you in the real world?

A man, a father, a husband. Lesser than I'd like to be in all 3. :)

What is your favorite shave setup?

Not sure yet.

What are your hobbies and favorite activities?

Motorcycling, taking kids to hockey, playing catch with kids, bbq'ing/smoking, photography.

What else should the members of B&B know about you?
Obviously, been shaving since late teens (maybe early 20's, lol). Started with cartridges. Briefly went with an electric, and then back to cartridges. I've been astonished at the price of blades since, forever, but never knew there was an alternative. Harry's cartridge shop got me started into looking at whether there are alternatives. I ordered a batch of Harry's blades and thought, hmm, these are just as good as the gillette blades but 1/2 the price.

I honestly never really knew about "old-fashioned" razors as I was born just when the cartridge thing was introduced (I know now, thanks to reading some history on this site).

When I saw the price of dual-edge blades, I was instantly sold (thanks to New York Times for printing an article about it, making me do some research). Who knew that blades could be .20c or less than a dollar!?! Crazy. I always knew the cartridge thing was a racket but I didn't know there was an alternative.

I've ordered an Edwin Jagger 89 series razor and a sampler pack and a badger brush and a few "entry level" creams. While waiting, I picked up some

Proraso cream from my drugstore and an Omega brush. Tried making some lather today and it was great.

Super thrilled that I can save a ton of money AND (more importantly) have some fun doing what I've always thought of as being a dull chore.

This is a great forum. I've learned a lot already. I won't be much of a contributor I suspect, so just wanted to say thanks for all the contributors past and future.

Proraso"]
