Good morning guys. Been double edge shaving for a bit of time now, and this morning was my best shave. With a second use Lord Platinum Class blade and my Merkur 34c. No nicks, no cuts, and very little razor burn. My technique is developing quite nicely. I've found that the trick for me is giving up on the BBS shave. It doesn't matter how many times you go over a particular area, you won't mow down all the stubble. It can feel close, but if you stretch the skin further, you can feel more stubble. I might be able to get the BBS if I try hard for it, but I get bad razor burn too, and that's no fun. I've been shaving with my Merkur 34c long enough now to know how it works on my face, and how to use delicate touch around my goatee and chin, and it resulted in a close, almost irritation free shave. So to summarize; to newbies I say, just try to get an acceptably close shave without obsessing over the BBS. It's hard to get every bit of stubble without scraping up your face. I heard somebody say here that the idea is beard reduction, not beard elimination. The stubble will all be there the next day, then you mow it off again.
Now I think I'm ready to try the Gillette Superspeed and 3-piece British Souplex open comb that are waiting for me at home, as well as a few tucks of Gillette Silver Blues. Have a great day guys.
