Question & help Valet auto strop
Valet Autostrop is a razor I enjoy.
I think it is most because:
-it allows using shallow angle without high pressure
-it is possible to strop with the razor.
I have totally bought 4 Valet Auto strop. Only one is without any issue, it is a VC2 New Yorker. But it is not the one with best stropping function, not bad though.
I have a VC1 but it is corroded in the stropping bars, green oxide. It is no problem while shaving but I do not want to run the strop in it and catch that oxide, guess it is not good for the blade. I just have to remove that corrosion and see if it comes back after shaving.
I bought another VC1 but one of the razor blade looking tab is broken. Perhaps it can be used anyway.
I also have another VC2 , England made that is not corroded in the bar. The stropping works just great with this one. The leather runs even and with good pressure were the blade contact. But the blade holder slot is broken in the end. When the "door" is closed it still works but do not know for how long. Anyone come up with a solution for this issue?
Do anyone have the VB1 or VB2?
Are they extremely rare?
Is the VB1/VB2 likely to have corrosion in the stropping cylinders ?
Do you find that the cylinder(VB1&VB2) instead of bar helps hold the leather straight where the blade contact?
