As you all know I've been struggling trying to learn the slant. I wanted a bit more aggression/closer shave than the 34c. I have used it about 6 times now, with feathers, gsb and astra sp. No matter how light (sometimes so light it doesn't even cut) and how shallow the angle I get the same results. I'm one that must go atg to look DFS or better, wtg xtg isn't enough and I look 5 o'clock otherwise.
Each time it doesn't get close enough. There's still tons of visible and gritty stubble all over my neck. I end up doing an extra atg or buffing to look presentable but always have irritation. So I just end up with an irritated slightly patchy CCS or DFS shave.
I do have trouble spots it seems with any razor but the other day I threw a feather in my 34c and, while difficult I did manage to mostly tame these spots with minimal irritation (still some though). I really wanted to love the 37c as I read all kinds of posts about life changing shaves compared to milder razors, but I guess it isn't for me. The performance is roughly the same as the 34c but with much more irritation and huge burn from my WH splash.
So I'm not sure which direction to go. Maybe a vintage slim or NEW? I want to be able to get these trouble spots without tns of passes and irritation. Maybe the Merkur head isn't for me? I noticed an easier (albeit far rougher) shaves with my weishi clone, but again too many passes needed.
Think I'm going to give up on the 37c for now
