New to the forum and to straight razors

Hi Everyone!
My name is Alessio and I'm excited to be joining this community.
I'm from Italy but I've been living in New Jersey for 5 years now.
I'll be turning 35 in June and I've decided it was time to toss my Gillette Mach3 and open my mind to old-fashioned ways of shaving.
I've been reading a lot of posts in the last few days and finally decided to order my first straight razor from Larry at Whippeddog.com, one of his "sight unseen". I wrote him yesterday and I'm waiting for his reply, I can't wait to get this experience started! I have been making a lot of researches on new razors but I got discouraged upon learning about the confusion around the shave readiness. I figured I'd be better off starting with a vintage product that has been professionally honed rather than investing in something new I probably couldn't appreciate just yet.
