Hello All.
I am trying to get into cigars and understand what I like and dislike. I understand what I enjoy in pipe tobacco, but cigars are a bit foreign to me still. I have smoked the following:
First cigar _ Fuente Opus X - Quite nice, a touch on the "Full" side for getting my feet wet. Had some complexity and was overall an enjoyable smoke.
Second Cigar _ Padron 1926 Anniversary Natural Torpedo - Was a good smoke. Somewhat "one note" for me, although the second third on was a bit more complex and nicer than the first third. Loved the Torpedo Shape.
Third Cigar _ Trinidad #4 _ Haven't smoked yet, but will soon.
After the news of the B&B LE pipe not getting the green light this year.... I've decided to start a tupperdor for myself and my Dad (Two identical tupperdors - One for each of us). I am looking for suggestions on what cigars should be on a list to try; so as to figure out what one likes in a cigar. A general idea of what is a good price per stick/box would be helpful and if it is not breaking the rules, perhaps where you like to "Stock Up".
I have used CigarBid while also frantically checking prices from other online vendors. I have been perusing Cigar Storehouse, which seems to have the best prices online by a long shot, but appears to sell only by the box.
I have had my eye on DE Undercrown for some time, although if it is too similar to the Trinidads, then I would rather get something else for variety. I've heard great things about Romeo y Juliet, but as with most brands they offer a ton of different choices. I have also read a little about Southern Draw Kudzu, which perked my interest as I am a Southern Boy (Born and Raised on the GA/AL state line). I have not seen the Kuzu offered from on online vendor.
My thoughts are thus (Mods please reprimand and/or delete thread if I am breaking rules):
You submit your list of 3-8 "must try sticks" including size, flavor profile (ie: why you like it), and general pricing (if it's ok with mods).
If I select your list as the "winner", then I will send you one of every different cigar that is put into the tupperdor.
My current Tupperdor starter kit is:
Boveda 69% Large 60g Humidity packs (1 for the Tupperdor & 1 spare is what I'm thinking)
Caliber IV digital hygrometer
Lock & Lock storage container - Looking at the Lock & Lock 9.6 cup (9.1x6.5x3.7 inches) 30 stick capacity?
Cedar liners & shelving from "old" cigar boxes - yet to be acquired
Thanks for the help.
