You don't mention whether you prefer a mild or an agressive razor.
The DE razor that started it all for me, the one that made me forget my carts, was the Mekur 34C, and it can be had for a song:
It's not very aggressive, but it's not too mild either.
If you want to go really high end, and I can see the reasoning behind that, buy it once and then be set for life, I'd recommend Above The Tie. That would be a bit above your budget, but you'd never have to buy another razor as long as you live.
But the problem with that is that they have quite a few possible configurations. Luckily you can buy one configuration and if you don't care for it, return it for a different config within 30 days. Pretty slick! And their razors are works of art.
