I have been wet shaving now with a DE razor for just a little under a month now and I've gone through 4 of the 5 Derby extra blades that came with my Edwin Jagger DE89. After my first shave I knew that I was hooked and wanted to expore the wide world of different blades looking for the best fit for me. I'm going to be documenting my experience working my way through the three blade samplers I got from tryablade, while I try and find the blades that work best for me.
To keep things to an even playing field I will be keeping my methods the same through out the testing to ensure that each blade gets a fair assessment. To start out I will be shaving with between 24 and 36 hours of growth, and will pre shave with a hot shower and the Proraso white pre shave cream, I will be using the Proraso white soap with my Parker pure badger brush. I will be using the blade in my Edwin Jagger DE89bl, and use Aqua Velva after shave. All the equipment is shown below.
For each blade I will shave with them 3 times to ensure that each blade gets a good review throughout it's life cycle. I shall use the blades in order that they are packaged within the packs, starting with the top 10 selection from tryablade then moving to the Luxury Blade sampler then the Gillette sampler.
