Because we are happy to sell even worthless crap if we get good price and that's fine with laws. This is our "business wisdom". And we would eat/consume/store whatever crap if it is at good price (magic word "discount" "sale off" etc).
They managed to sell one Gillette Executive razor for your father and many blades. Then the patent for blades was over, so they decided to sell hundreds of plastic carts at highest price they can get. And said something like "the best man can get".
We can understand this situation because we can evaluate two razors (DE and cart). And not everybody even think about this. I just can imagine what business do (and they really do!) everywhere where we can not see the difference in good product and crap? Medicine, food (ingredients), environment etc... Just my thoughts.
