Creams work well on either. Soap can too, it depends on the density of the soap and the backbone of the brush. Some badger brushes have good back bone too and can load off a dense puck just as well as boar. Though any brush can load off any soap, it just might take longer to load. Tallow is a good middle ground between the soft creams and the harder milled soap pucks too.
