Hello all! I’m a newbie to this forum with an introduction and a question. My name is Jared and I live in Minnesota. I am very new to fountain pens, so far all I have is a Pilot Metropolitan with F and M nibs, a Jinhao 250, an Esterbrook J with a 9668 nib, and a Parker 21.
The Parker 21 was purchased unused, never inked. The problem with it is it floods. Immediately after filling with ink it writes VERY wet, and eventually a drop of ink forms on the nib and blobs onto the paper. After sitting capped for a period of time there is evidence of ink in the cap, and even some deposited on the section. I have tried Parker Quink Blue/Black and Waterman Serenity Blue inks with the same results. I don’t see any obvious problems with the nib when looked at under 8X magnification, and I can see no cracks in the plastic. I really like this pen for some reason, and would love to get it feeding correctly. Does anyone have any ideas on what would be causing this, and if it can be repaired?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
-Jared
