Greetings everyone,
I have been lurking here for a little while, finally made an account the other day and have decided to start getting involved on the forums. A little about myself. I'm 24 yo from Charleston, SC and began my wet shaving journey last December. My cousin had started using a DE and was telling me how much he was enjoying the experience. I myself have never been one to shave on a daily basis. Mainly because I could get away with it because of my light, red hair that is difficult to really see with a day or so in between shaves, and because I hated shaving due to the razor burn and bumps on my neck that would often occur with cartridges. However, I was intrigued and had always wanted to give a straight razor a try, so I took the plunge, bought a razor (S.R. Droescher), cream and a brush. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't life changing and I found myself falling back into my old shaving routine more times than not. In early February I decided to grow my beard out and so shaving as a whole took a back seat. I decided to shave the beard off about a month ago (all except the handlebar mustache that I am sporting now) and also decided to give my straight razor another chance. I don't know what was different this time around, but after a few shaves I found myself actually looking forward to my morning shave. The razor burn and bumps that I have been used to getting from shaving have been almost non-existent. Now I have a puck of GFT (Eucris), AOS (Sandlewood) and have a DR Harris (Marlborough) on the way (I'm afraid this may be the onset of SSAD). I have found taking my time to have a good shave in the morning and a splash of Clubman AS has really helped jump start my day. I still have a long way to go and haven't ventured into the XTG or ATG passes yet, but I'm really looking forward to seeing the progression and learning from everyone here.
Cheers,
