So I have a Semogue boar, a short loft Rooney style 1 size 2, and a 55mm loft floppy Dovo with an olive wood handle. I have gone away from soaps (except for shaving sticks), and I find that my floppy Dovo brush is perfect. I like the boar's hair for shaving sticks (something scruby). The Rooney is good, but (IMHO) not optimal for the shave stick or cream scenario.
Floppy brushes (again, IMHO) seem to be under appreciated.
