Gents, I have been trying to loosely follow this fidelity thing you see come up from time to time. At least I think I have. I think it means using up one soap at a time or using one or two lathers exclusively as your "best" and sticking to them. Well I am here to say I have fallen off that wagon and intend to never board it again!
Over the last few months, close to a year, I have consciously tried to use up a lot of my old product knocking about in the shack before buying any more. I have been at this long enough(over a decade now) to not jump on every bandwagon that come along. Still, over the years I have accumulated a number of good but not necessarily great soaps that have seen their use limited to about half the cake. So I set out to use them up awhile back. This went relatively well through the old formula AOS soaps(great soaps btw, just using them up) and a few other staples. Then I picked up the Pre de Provence and remembered why I am such a soap whore. Don't get me wrong. PdP is a good soap. Not a great one for me but very good. The trouble is, the danged thing won't die. I cannot seem to get it to the graveyard. Lets make that couldn't. I called a mercy killing this morning and scraped out the last tablespoon or two this morning and molded it into a small bathing soap. I could not get that cake to end. It just wouldn't. I have no idea how you guys who practise this fidelity thing do it. I am so tired of using PdP I don't want to see it for a few YEARS. So you chaps who manage it have my admiration and sometimes bewilderment.
Cheers, Todd
