I am about to embark on a small experiment and I want to know if it makes any sense.
I use a variety of blades on my course beard. I use a more forgiving blade like the Gillette SB if I am forced to shave daily, but prefer a sharper blade like a Polsilver SI if I have skipped a day of shaving. I often find that I am one or two shaves into a blade when I have the need to switch leaving me with the unpleasant task of discarding a perfectly good blade.
Here is my idea. It is simple really. After every shave put the blade in an alcohol bath. It would serve the dual purpose of cleaning the gunk off the blade as well as keeping my razor away from a potential source of rust.
Does anyone store blades in alcohol? (that would be denatured isopropyl alcohol.) Can alcohol harm the blade? Does this make any sense?
