C-Mon Cadilac

I've been using a Mekur safety razor for about a year now and decided to give straight razor shaving a try. I just purchase a C-Mon Cadilac straight and decided to give it a try today. I noticed it pulled A LOT and I'm thinking this razor isn't quite "shave ready". Anybody have any recommendations on the best way to get this razor honed up and shave ready?
