So I've been pondering (and struggling a bit) while contemplating a scenario. Thought I'd throw it to the collective and get others thoughts. So the setup... you have the luck to come into possession of a fairly sought after vintage pipe. It's a commonly collected make, and the one you now have is one of the rarer examples, and it's in pristine condition, un-smoked.
So, do you smoke it, knowing that will decrease it's collectors value? Search out someone that collects that brand so it can...
