Today I thought about making a wishlist, so that my wife can find some inspiration for birthday gifts. I thought about it because I would like to have a Martin de Candre Fougère shaving soap, but given the price I think it's something that I'd rather get as a special gift rather than purchase it myself.
Can you guys recommend any other nice soaps or aftershaves that would make good gifts. I'm also open to getting a new razor and brush, but I'm not planning on having too many duplicates.
Here is a little background about what I use or have used.
Soaps/creams
I've had some DR Harris soaps and Proraso soaps and creams. I have a Truefitt & hill 1805 that I haven't opened yet. And I had a Taylor Coconut cream but it left my skin red. The verdict is that I'm would probably stick with proraso red and green soaps as they work well enough for me. The Taylor worked wonder though, if it were not for the allergic reaction.
Aftershaves
I have used some DR Harris splash, nivea balm, speick splash, aqua velva, and proraso green splash. Without a doubt Aqua Velva is my favorite because of the way my skin feels afterwards. I've ordered some aqua velva musk to try out. I also like the smell of proraso green.
Razor
I've been using the EJ89 for five years now. No complaints, but I'm still opened to suggestions.
Shaving brush
I have an omega boar pro and I'm very happy with it except that sometimes I find it too big and it send some soap everywhere in the bathroom (I face lather). I'm not too interested in expensive brushes and I'm happy with boar. The other brush I was eying was the SoC.
So let me know, what do you guys think are some good items I could enjoy as a gift but wouldn't necessarily buy for myself?
