Is it just nostalgia? Or childhood memories? Or, do they really shave that much better than other modern razors?
One piece TTO razors just don't appeal to me for reasons I don't fully understand. I guess it has something to do with the simplicity of a 3 piece razor. I get the all brass construction of these old Gillette's but, modern razors offer that as well if you want to pay for it. In fact I intend to test drive a Fatip razor in the not too distant future which is all brass and priced competitively with Ebay Gillettes. Whether my Edwin Jagger has a Zamak head or not does not seem significant to me and the cost to replace it if it wears out or fails is cheap enough to not be a concern either.
What am I missing? Do I need to buy one to appreciate them? I should note that I never really appreciated Porsche vehicles until I drove one for a week on vacation. Porsche is more than the sum of its parts and specifications. Are these old Gillette's like that?
Best Regards,
Sid
