Hi and happy new year
Your technique is a matter of time and self adjustment to what suits you better.
However, there is no way on earth to shave properly with a so called factory "shave ready" razor. Stropping will be ininfluent as well.
This is the most common factor which keeps people away from this superb hobby and it happened to all of us at least once.
Make sure your razor is properly honed. One easy way to check this is the HHT test (YouTube is full of examples) .
You could try to shave you foeream as well. Pick-up a hair and try to cut it without efforts. One simple contact with the edge should remove that hair from your forearm. If this doesn't happen then I would suggest to send your razor to one of our specialists for honing.
Have faith you will find a way to enjoy straights for sure !
