I had a meeting with my lawyer last week, who was taking lots of notes down, I asked her if she used a fountain pen, she said she used to but got inky fingers so she stopped. You had a Parker Sonnet said I, she was amazed that I knew.
I first bought a Sonnet around 10 years ago, it went back to Parker to be fixed so many times due to the nib collar coming away and poor ink flow on the down stroke. I gave up in the end and sold it for parts.
Like an idiot I bought another earlier this weak, from eBay, it was a cheap, only £17 and including a Sonnet pencil.
It has just the same problem as my earlier pen, skipping on the down stroke, one word writes perfectly the next is ink-free. I tried it with a cartridge and bottled inks, unscrewed the nib, cleaned it, put it back. Nothing. It is going back to the seller.
It was a relief to use my Jinhao 159, all of £5 including postage.
New, the Sonnet is not a cheap pen, around £55 on Amazon and is seen as a premium pen from a good maker. I know that many pen users have no problems at all with the Sonnet but it is not a sure fire certainty.
