Newbie/Lurker checking in

, thought it was time I checked in.

First of all thanks for all the info on these forums etc. that I have found useful while lurking in the background. It's good to see all you good people enjoying the simple pleasure of shaving and the free exchange of info and experience.

About me; I am an I 3 (in Gillette years) and can't believe all the time and money I wasted over the years on disposables, cartridges and electric razors. About two years ago my brother asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I said "get me one of those cheap de razors off the telly they keep advertising" and so it was. Well, even with a simple cheap de razor I immediately knew I would never go back.

More recently I thought I would upgrade to something nicer and discovered, while looking for the best deals, all you people had been here all along enjoying a proper shave.

Since it was my birthday again I asked my brother (he's a good man) to get me a Merkur Progress and he sent off for one. While waiting for delivery I became impatient, thanks to you lot, and sent for a Phoenix Bakelite slant, oh and then while waiting for that there was this Gillette adjustable slim on eBay. Then I was somehow waiting for three razors! Well now they have all arrived in one week and I am happy with them all. I shall have to restrain myself and not buy any more but I get the feeling the next step will be brushes, soaps etc. if I keep looking at this site.
