Cut to the chase. Quite possibly the best knot I have ever used.
Now that is out of the way.
Some of you may remember I asked Rudy Vey to make a brush for me. It is an outstanding piece of work in more than one way. Everything about this brush, including the memories it will kindle makes it simply perfect. But we're talking about the knot here...and it is here we shall be completely objective.
Shavemac D01 Two band..26mm set to 52mm loft. I was truly concerned this may have wound up being something like an
Oral B-60. Many reports of too stiff, dense, skritchy, scratchy, hard on the face, does not play well with others, etc. Well, I was all in on this project. I hoped I would at least kinda like it.
Nah...I LOVE it. Were I a man of means, I would buy another 2 or 3 set to different lofts. This is probably the BEST knot I will ever use. It is firm but not too firm. It is indeed dense. As a result it kills harder soaps (like say C&E) and "whips" them into submission (yeah..great pun!!). It is far from Vulfix floppy. Indeed if such a floppy brush is likened to a lover's caress, the D01 is the re-assuring pat on the face from your best pal.
It is a superb knot.
And....the handle in which it resides is just as perfect. Great balance...excellent heft. As nice in the hand as a Hurst T-Handle Shift knob.
Yes....I am quite satisfied.
