Since I picked up my first corn cob a few months ago I've been smoking cobs exclusively. I recently picked up three more, and started a new one today. I love it. I don't feel bad at all turning away from briars. I'll get a briar again in the future I'm sure, but it feels a lot riskier to try a new briar than a new corn cob. Anyway, I have a couple of questions on care and longevity. First is do I need to or should I let my cob cake the way we would for a briar pipe? The next is what can I expect for a typical lifespan of a typical corn cob pipe? Is there anything I should know that is kind of exclusive to taking care of a corn cob pipe? I'm not very concerned with trying to make my $5 pipe last forever, but more I want to make sure I'm preserving the quality of my smoke.
Thanks!
