GEM 1912: solid brass?

I've just been bitten by the GEM 1912 bug.
I'm keen to try something different, which an SE razor is for me.,
It's also cool that they were made about 10 minutes' walk from where I live (the factory was just a couple of blocks away from where the Weck factory stood).

Question: were some of these made in solid brass without any plating?
Or were they always plated -- that is, if you see a brass one, does that mean its plating is all worn away?
