Well, I discovered why many people are not as impressed with Astras as I am. The EJ DE89 is pretty common and this week I learned that my beloved Astras perform like crap in a DE89. Weird because they are fantastic in all my other razors. I'm perplexed at the situation. I almost have no use for this DE89 head because while it makes the Voskhods shine, they really kinda shine on their own. Plus, my new Maggard V3A makes ALL my blades perform like star athletes, including Derbys which I had all but given up on before. I have hundreds of Astras and that basically puts the DE89 on the shelf :(
Kinda makes me gloomy. Perhaps I'll gift it to my brother with the rest of my Feather blades which I absolutely cannot stand.
Anyone else experience really bad combinations? I'm curious to hear about it.
