Often I will hear about how thrifty wetshaving can be...then I spend a bit of time on this forum. Uh huh....
For sure the process can be economical however I don't see it as being the primary reason anyone gets involved with all of this. One glance at my straight razor inventory...shoots that whole theory cleanly in the butt. Names like Brown, Zowada, and Stark are not affiliated with bargain basement shaving.
Nonetheless.....
Wet shaving can in fact be a dirt cheap proposition. Just how inexpensive got me to thinking.
For about $50.00 +/- a few dollars, someone could put together a kit that would last for decades (aside from consumable items of course).
Example-
1. Decent DE razor..like the EJ DE 89 or similar-$35.00
2. Brush..Omega Pro 49-$10.00
3. Couple packs of blades-$3.00
4. Arko stick-$2.00
If one would care to upgrade a tad, add another few dollars for a second brush (always a good idea to have two), a bulk supply of blades (100 for an additional $6.00-$7.00) and maybe another soap or tube of cream which can vary quite a bit in price (but I have to say, Derby cream at $3.00 a tube is a rockin' deal).
Seems the majority of the crowd here does not subscribe to the bare-bones concept of thw wetshaving school; I certainly do not. Got me to wondering just what the ratio of minimalists vs. extremists might be. Where do you fit in???
