Ok, so i was experimenting a lot with lathering lately. Even trying face lathering and so on. But i just found out this one trick, that really makes a difference for me so i wanted to share. Tried it myself 3 times so far and got exceptionaly good shaves 3 times in a row which always was, sadly, not so typical for me.
Btw, i'm using Muhle silvertip synthetic brush and have pretty soft water, just so you guys know in case if it won't work that well otherwise. Ok, so here it goes:
Nothing fancy here, just splash some water in your bowl, make sure it's nice and wet but don't leave much water in it, maybe just a little bit.
Than run some water on your brush (understand, that i'm using sythetic brush, which may be important for this technique (i don't have any other brush for comparison) so i don't need to soak it or anything) and shake it gently few times, making sure that it's not dripping but not completely dry either.
Than load your soap or cream and start bowl lathering.
Add water if you need to, but what you are looking for is when lather just starts to look shiny and make that wet sound when you work it in a bowl, but make sure it just just starts to feel that way, don't add any more water.
Here's the trick: leave the bowl and your brush aside on his handle (knot facing up) for like 5 min.
After about 5min, make a few stirs in a bowl, maybe for 10 - 15 sec. then apply lather to your face and profit (?)
For me this really makes a difference. I found that i make less lather with more product this way, but lather seems to be more concentrated, even scent is stronger and performance really goes up as well. It looks and feels decently wet (definitely wetter from when you left it sit in a bowl) kinda yoghurty pasty like, nice and slick.
Just give it a try if you want because i would like to hear if anyone else would get better results this way in comparison to start shaving just after finishing lathering.
