I'm about 30 years into this hobby and approaching 10 years on B&B. I just want to offer a quick tip on keeping things fresh all this time.
Here it is: Use products up and keep a running wish list.
Instead of trying to use every recommended product in your first 6 months or first year, keep a list of things you want to buy and use up the stuff you have, unless it's just plain crap, then get rid of it.
I just received another order from West Coast Shaving today and was very pleasantly surprised by Lucky Tiger. I've been wanting to try it for many years now, but always had something else in the wings. I finally put a bottle on my most recent order and it made me happy when I splashed some on.
Recently, I dropped and broke my favorite lathering bowl. It was custom made by a long time friend of my wife's and was given to me as a gift by her back when we were dating over 18 years ago. So I bought some Mitchel's Woolfat shave soap with the bowl. It's been years since I used Mitchel's Woolfat and I've always resisted buying the bowl. Now that I have need of a new bowl it looks very nice in the cabinet. I can't say for sure, but I believe it lathers better in its own designer ceramic bowl with lid.
So pace yourselves gentlemen. There are years of products available. Enjoy them as you go. Believe it or not, there are still some top products that I have not tried yet. Eventually I'll get to them and hopefully they will be wonderful surprises when I do. There are also very few products that I have repurchased in the past 10 years, simply because there are so many to try. Tabac, MWF, Arko and Aqua Velva are among the few that have been restocked. Some products were absolutely fantastic, but just didn't get reordered for one reason or another, (reformulations, too costly, etc.).
I don't post as much as I used to, but I still enjoy my shaves and pop in from time to time and say HI.
Enjoy your shaves everyone.
