Okay, I'm in.
It all began with a decision to purchase a Van Der Hagen razor at a Kroger grocery store. Then I picked up a cheap synthetic brush at a little beauty supply shop. I bought some super cheap shaving cream that came in a shaving soap-looking container (well-documented here). Actually isn't all that bad, but, not suitable for DE shaving. Then I found Williams at the local drug store. Usable, but I knew something better was out there. Found out about Bigelow/Proraso and adding a little squeeze of that to a bar of Williams or VDH is pretty nice. I'm also using some pre-oil. So far, I have experimented with Badger (from the health food store) and Shea Butter (from Target). Not sure they're making any difference, the jury is still out on that one.
Only into this for about a month now, but it looks like I'm here to stay. Pictured, L to R: Gillette Slim, Fatboy, Ever Ready SE, VDH. I have ordered a Jagger razor, Feather blades, and a silvertip brush.
