Mine had the same consistency, more like a soap.. I had an extra tin from Sterling's so I stirred up the SMN and took a spoon and filled the tin.. So I now use the tin, i like it better than the jar.. might want to mix yours up some... it develops a harder top, but down in the middle it's more cream like..
