Dropped Pen!

I was at a store the other day and I dropped my pen (Pilot Prera) when trying to take it out of my pocket (I am known to be rather clumsy...). It wrote for a moment but then stopped. I was certain I broke my pen. I went home, took the pen apart and cleaned it. I put it back together and it has been writing fine for about a week. The only thing is it seems to 'leak' a bit more ink inside the cap than it ever did before.

To make a long story short, anybody know what happened there? Why it wouldn't write until I pulled it apart and cleaned it?
