You're gonna get all kinds of answers. A lot of the process can be individualized so the real answer is to take in a bunch of knowledge, apply it while taking notes and find what works for you. Keith V Johnson and Lynn Abrams is a good place to start.
I should also add that the technique is going to vary widely depending on the type and condition of the razor your honing. Good points to remember are; There's no one way things should be done that fits all circumstances (other than set the bevel or your screwed) and it's not rocket science (common sense and notes is all it takes).
