I'm going to purchase either KAI Captain standard or Feather AC SS (non folding version) as my first straight/shavette. However it's difficult to choose which one so I thought B&B community might offer some insightful opinions.
Why only these ones? Well they are in the right price range and easily available to me.
Feather RG might also be an option as it's not that much expensive but availability even in Japan is not very good for some reason at the moment.
What I have found this far (from B&B and other sources):
- KAI head is apparently similar to Feather DX/RG and might be more like real straight razor.
- Feather SS head is different and might be more forgiving (at least compared to DX/RG not necessarily KAI)
- Some think that KAI balance is better
- Some think KAI handle is not very good
- Feather SS handle might be better shaped but some consider it to be too light (balance issue)
- In KAI the blade is exposed less than in Feather DX/RG but how it compares to SS is unclear.
Anything to add to the list? What would be your choice and why?

Yes, I know these are not like real straights and require different technique.
No, I'm not considering real straight at the moment. Maybe in future as they sure are tempting :)
