A couple years ago, I bought an antique store straight. I polished it and put it away, having no idea how to put an edge on it. Pretty much forgot I had it. Then I met a guy who used a soap and brush. I gave him a stick of La Toja to try out. Later his wife mentioned that he uses a straight sometimes, and I mentioned my straight. I thought he might take a look at my find and tell me if it was worth using. He said, "Bring it by and let me see it." This morning I received it back. He honed it, including eliminating a tiny chip in the edge. I'll give it a go this weekend. Really excited! I think I'll drop him some Monsavon...Here it is pre-honing:
