Decided to document my quick maintenance job on a Filarmonica 10N, and since you like photos, here's a load of them (sorry for the quality, didn't really feel like messing with my DSLR at the same time).
I got said Filly in a lot from a fellow Finnish wetshaver, and it was in nice condition:
Only problem with it was this:
As you can see, the blade hit the scales pretty bad, and the source of the problem became quite obvious once I started inspecting it closer:
If you look at the shims you might be able to see, that they are not exactly lined up correctly. I tried to poke them around with a small screwdriver, but they didn't budge. Had to take the razor apart.
As soon as i did that, i figured why the shims wouldn't move:
There was no shims, but the scales were molded so the blade only touched a small part of them. Also the scales didn't seem to be a good pair, as not only were the spacers in different places but the other scale is ~1mm longer than the other.
So, time to do some sanding. I flattened the bumps, and also sanded the insides of both scales. As you can see, it made quite nice improvement (not that anybody can see it when assembled, but at least I know):
Bottom one is sanded all the way, on the top one only the bump is taken out.
After i got that sorted out I gave the blade a quick polish with Autoglym and Cape Cod, and also buffed the scales very gently:
When i was doing a test assembly I noticed yet another problem caused by the un-paired scales:
As you might see, the screws are at an angle, and the scales won't go closer together. The pin holes don't line up, and as a result the blade still hit the scales.
I took a small Dremel carving head, and elongated the pin holes by hand to fix the issue, and lo and behold, it worked:
Here's a top view of the final test assembly, and everything seems to sit nicely:
Final step was to pin the razor back together, and going with the original look, i decided to go with brass rod and washers. Here's some pics of the finished project:
Next to hone this little beauty, and get my first Filly shave.
