Great to read the forum and after 50 years of shaving I'm going back to double edge wet shaving mostly for the enjoyment of the ritual. I'm finding that in the last half-century products, procedures and philosophies have changed...for the better. I recently received some Wm Neumann & Co. shaving cream. I've read the posts and watched videos but can't seem to generate an appropriate thick lather. I've tried different quantities of cream, water and lathering time and while it appears to start to later up it quickly dissipates and goes thin. Has anyone tried this product, and if so, can you give me any suggestions?
I also received some Henry Cavendish Shaving Soap. I haven't used it yet but wanted to put it into a shaving mug without microwaving it and possibly damaging some of the characteristics of the soap. I read some threads on this site about grating the soap and tamping it into the mug, and it worked perfectly. After grating the soap I added about a third of it to the mug and tamped it down then added a few drops of water and tamped it again. I did this this two more times and it worked great so thanks to those who posted the procedure. If anyone has tried Henry Cavendish soap I would also appreciate any suggestions or experience you've had with this product.
Thanks again and I look forward to enjoying the board.
