Greetings B&B fellows. I just signed up and am going to be switching to DE shaving as I am tired of my cartridge razor even though it's the Gillette ProGlide Power. It has too many blades. So, I'm totally blind, have been shaving since I was 13 or so, and have been told by other sighted men that I shave with more care and less cuts than they do. That's a nice complement when you're stuck in a college dorm with a community bathroom, remember those days? Yeah, I know, i'd like to forget too. Anyway, I was just wondering if there were any other totally blind/visually impaired folks out there using DE razors and if you had any tips. My wife is sighted and has been describing the videos by Geo Fatboy to me and helping me learn how to use the brush and shaving cream. I bought the Midsize kit from Art of Shaving but find the badger brush to be kind of rough on my skin. Not sure if it's just that I'm not used to the feeling, but I'd like to find either a synthetic brush or a softer badger brush, but they aren't cheap. I also have a jar of Castle Forbs coming in the mail thanks to the 2015 Awards.
Anyway, wasn't sure if this was the right forum to post, I know there is a newby forum as well but I thought maybe I'd find a few more hits here. It's really all about feel when it comes to angle of blade and how the skin is supposed to feel once shaving is complete. So, we'll see how it goes.
Later,
Dave
