I just recently received my semogue 1250 boar brush and it is quite the looker. When I first opened the package it was quite stiff, but I noticed how soft the tips of the bristles were compared to the two Omega brushes I have when they were new. You can definitely see that there is a massive quality difference in build quality and type of bristle used in the semogue compared to my two omega-brushes. Is this to say an Omega is a bad brush? Definitely "knot" (excuse the pun )!
The first shave with the 1250 was pleasant in regards to face feel and backbone. Relatively soft for a new boar brush, but definitely shows great hopes once fully broken in. One thing I have to say was that it was a bit of a lather hog for me. I loaded the brush for a good 45 seconds and the first pass was okay, but the second and third passes were lacking in the rich thick lather I am accustomed to from my Omegas or other brushes of different bristle types. This I attribute to the fact the brush is brand new and will improve with time. So far this seems like an excellent brush for the money!
I plan on updating this thread after every shave with the 1250 until it is fully broken in to share my experiences with all of you fine B&Bers.
