I found out how to make lather on this forum. To me if you cannot make lather nothing else will work. It is funny but this is the only place I found that really talks about it. How many quit because they did not know, from my experience it could be as high as 50% or even more. Two plus months of cuts lots of blood and half as close under the chin. My Osma Alum would send me up a wall. Why I didn't quit I do not know, I should have. All the time trying the right blades and soap went out the window because they could not have worked right. I researched and I do have the good equipment. Anyway what saved me was using a separate lather bowl and running fingers down the brush now and then as it worked upwards. I did know how to load the brush but that is not enought. For me a seperate bowl. No more nicks and blood, none. Closer than ever in my life. I can fill up a cool whip bowl now if I wanted. I am too wore out to try new soap and blades for a while. Soap was easy by watching my brush while rinsing and drying. Blades for me is as sharp as I can get, no problems. As I said I stay where I am except for a double comb razor. Anyway for a while and me this what works for me. Strop Shoppe Baker Street soap with a dash of D.R. Shaving Cream no post or pre shave. Gillette 7'oclock dark blades with Kia on order. A Parker brush, I know it is not a Simson but I like it. Edwin Jagger Kevin Razor. Tried a butterfly, never again and as I said a double comb on order with the Kia's. Long here I know but if it can help another newbie stick around it should be worth it.
