I recently bought a Bengall with ivory scales, and am currently restoring it. I noticed that the scales are little bent - little over 1mm gap between them when both ends are together (wedge and blade obviously removed). The gap is closer to the pivot than the wedge, and seems unsymmetrical. The blade also didn't center correctly before unpinning, and i'm thinking this is why, since the blade itself seems to be very straight.
How does one go about unbending ivory without cracking it?
