So almost a month ago to the day the GF bought me a full EJ setup... brush, razor, mug & soap etc.
Over the month I have added to this with an alum block, some rose water witch hazel and of course some Pinaud Clubman off the recommendation and threads read around here... great suggestion btw.
So, having lost the beard just before Christmas, I have managed to get in my first few full face shaves and it's no lie, shaving is actually much more enjoyable and fun.
I am generally pretty happy with the experience and how I am coming along, though am still struggling to master the neck which I struggle with for several reasons. 1) I cannot decide which direction the growth at the very base of my neck grows in meaning I struggle to get a clean shave in this area and 2) my entire neck area is just too sensitive to get several passes in before it starts to burn up.
I am currently using an EJ89 handle with feather blades which I have run with with very little exploration to date of other blades (even though I have several) which might be an issue. However I am finding my post shave ritual of Alum, witch hazel & Clubman really working to counter my much improved though still very amateur technique.
All in all it is coming along well and I am glad to have persevered through the initial bloody messes that were my first experiences.
Would appreciate any feedback as to how I might overcome the neck issue and if others have had similar issues and how they have over come them. It might pay to leave my next shave until the current razor burn has completely dissipated and try something new.
