After years of wanting one since they first came out, I'm finally ready to buy myself the Colossus version of Above The Tie's stainless steel safety razor.
I know I want open comb, but they have 3 variations and not sure which one to get? I realize M2, R2 & H2 determine the razors aggressiveness, but how do I determine how aggressive I want it to be?
I currently use a Merkur 11 ("c" I think?) open comb, but I generally keep a stubble or slightly longer than a stubble beard most of the time. When I do shave it off my skin usually breaks out a bit with tiny white zits (I believe it is called folliculitis?) because it's just not used to being shaved that often and I would say I have sensitive skin maybe? I'm sure if I shaved cleanly on a regular basis it wouldn't be a problem, but since I don't that often, I get the breakout after a 2 pass shave.
When I do shave I shave down and then across my face, never up/against the grain.
I don't want a razor head that is going to require me to shave more than twice, so keep that in mind. I don't think the M2 is right for me? So I'd say it's between the R2 & H2 blade heads, and I'd almost want to just go with the H2 to know that I can get a good, clean, tight shave with it.
Suggestions? Should I just be safe and go with the R2 or man up and go with the H2? I really would only like to buy one blade head because of the price, so I really want to make the right decision and don't have the luxury of experimenting with all 3 different heads.
I also use Feather SS blades if it matters.
Is the knurling on all of their SS handles the same? Seems they're pretty aggressive based on someones review of the colossus on their website? After having the Merkur 11c I'd really like the longer, heavier handle of the Colossus I think, so I'm pretty dead set on that particular handle.

Which open comb version from Above the Tie? M2, R2 or H2?
